Program Location:

Often called 'Magic Prague' and 'the city of a thousand spires,' Prague is one of the most beautiful and least expensive European cities. The capitol of the Czech Republic is a cultural center providing a rich environment of museums and galleries. The city regularly plays host to numerous international exhibitions, events, arts and music festivals. Prague has always been a cultural city of influence: Mozart wrote "Don Giovanni" here, the great Czech composer Antony Dvorak spent most of his life here, Franz Kafka and Alphonse Mucha are only a few of the city's most famous sons. Prague is one of the most important art and cultural centers of Western and Eastern Europe.

Program Description:

Prague has become a center for contemporary art and photography with numerous museums, galleries and international art events, making it an ideal location to study art and photography. There are also hundreds of concert halls and frequent music festivals in the city.  This program provides a unique opportunity for Photography students to visit and interact with celebrated Czech and Slovak photographers in their personal studios, to visit important photographic collections with local curators, and also to photograph outside of Prague on field trips provided. Students in the Art course will be captured by the physical beauty of the city’s historic and well preserved architecture (including Gothic, Baroque, Art Nouveau, and Cubism). This program takes advantage of all that Prague has to offer makes a study abroad experience here a once in a lifetime experience.

Please note: Prospective students should be aware that study abroad programs require a great deal of walking. You should be prepared to walk at least 2 or 3 miles each day. You may also walk over uneven, possibly slippery or rocky terrain even in cities .

Excursions: Depending on the course, students will have excursions to several local museums, photography studios, or theatres. An overnight trip will be planned to Cesky Krumlov and a day trip to Kutna Hora. Both are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Individual instructors will arrange local excursions related to their classes.

Classes: Classes will be held three hours per day during the week.

Accommodations: Students will stay in a well located hotel or hostel with breakfast and dinner provided. Lunch will be the responsibility of the student.
