Participants in the PSCC Southern Spain Cultural Tour will be introduced to three beautiful cities in southern Spain: Toledo, Granada and Seville. In addition to touring these three cities, participants will have an opportunity to attend performances by Variations, the college’s select choir, in Granada and Seville.
Toledo is known as the “city of three cultures” for its Christian, Muslim and Jewish influences. This diversity is still preserved in the artistic styles of the old quarter of the capital of Castile – La Mancha, a World Heritage site. Participants may visit the Catedral Primara, Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, and the Museum of Santo Tome.
Granada sits at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and was founded over 2500 years ago. With breathtaking views it is one of Spain’s most famous destinations. Granada offers culture and food you won’t soon forget. Participants will visit Alhambra, the ancient Moorish palace and the sounding gardens. Additionally, visits may be planned to the Palacio de Generalife and Granada's Cathedral of the Incarnation.
As the largest tourist destination in southern Spain, the tour will spend three nights in Seville. The cathedral with the Moorish bell tower, Torre La Giralda, is a must see for any visitors, not to mention the museums, ancient architecture, churches, palaces and much more. Walking around Plaza de America will include exploring roundabouts, pavillions, and nearby fountains.
